As of September 5th, we are back in Redstone, CO. You may remember that we have visited Redstone numerous times

Dan on a lunch break in front of the Redstone Coke Ovens
while Dan is working on the historic Coke Ovens. Dan picked up another job in nearby Basalt restoring Charcoal Kilns, so I am sure we will be back again next year. Luckily, it is hard to get tired of the Colorado Rockies. The leaves are already starting to show flashes of yellow and the nights are cool. We had to get out our catalytic heater for the first time in months. Time to start thinking about heading south for the winter.
We will be heading to Boulder on the15th for a few weeks to take care of some appointments and attend a friend’s wedding. Dan will also put in a little face time at work. We are planning on leaving Boulder for Prattville, Alabama around Oct 9th. Dan’s dad lives in Alabama and his aunt and uncle are meeting us there for some family time. We aren’t sure where we are headed after that. Probably towards the Gulf Coast, maybe into Florida….somewhere warm.
So, last time I wrote we were in Idaho. We loved it. Our inflatable kayak turned out to be a great purchase. We used it
several times on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River and again on the Green River in Utah on the way to CO. In Idaho, we saw several moose along the river and lots of muskrats, beavers, and birds. There is something magical about being 50 yards from a moose in the middle of the river. They are big animals and we were very respectful of them. They keep a close eye on you and I think their reputation as aggressive is well deserved. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any

pictures as we weren’t comfortable enough to bring the camera on the kayak. After purchasing a dry bag and gaining some confidence in our paddling skills, the next moose will get his picture taken. Kayaking has turned out to be great exercise with the side benefits you get from being immersed in nature. Relaxation, meditation, harmony with all things around you…..hmmm.. I am talking like a Boulderite again aren’t I?
It’s currently raining here which has curtailed a few outside activities this week, but the rain is cozy sounding on the roof. We are hoping to get out for a hike soon maybe a little 4- wheeling. There is always plenty to explore wherever we are.
